Integrates geospatial datasets into a decision-support toolbox to identify and prioritize sensitive aquifer recharge areas, supporting groundwater quality protection, recharge enhancement, and informed land-use and water management decisions.
Researchers are refining recharge-sensitivity mapping tools so local governments and water managers can better protect groundwater sources while planning development and recharge projects. The prototype of this tool was developed in the Spokane Valley Rathdrum Prairie Aquifer and will be used to evaluate if other communities are interested in analogous tools.
