Extends validation of NISAR L-band InSAR snow-depth retrievals using lidar and field data to evaluate statewide feasibility of spatial snow-water monitoring for operational forecasting.
Tests new satellite-based methods to estimate snow depth and snow water storage, with early results showing promise for future statewide snow monitoring. The team collected a time series of airborne lidar data at both Mores Creek Summit & Camas Prairie and processed it into snow depth products. Preliminary results demonstrate the feasibility of using L-band InSAR data with machine learning for snow depth retrieval.
