The team will review Idaho’s weather and climate monitoring systems to identify gaps, overlaps, and opportunities for improvement. The project will recommend ways to strengthen coordination and accessibility for hydrometrical data and natural resource management statewide.

“The team is reviewing Idaho’s weather and snow
monitoring networks to identify data gaps,
improve station coverage, and strengthen drought and water supply assessments. They performed assessments of the AgriMET, SNOTEL and Synoptic Networks with one preliminary takeaway showing that although low-snow and drier locations are well-represented by the current network, wetter locations were severely
underrepresented by 45-50%.”
